15:11:06 - In And Around The Lake......

In a surprise development Steve Howe & Fragile performed their 2006 show together again on Saturday 11th November but this time at a private party on the shores of Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Switzerland. The band were contacted back in September about this engagement and all stops were pulled out to make it happen. The trip was a great success and Fragile had a fantastic time with Steve Howe and our wonderful Swiss hosts.

It was a fantastic experience for all, performing classic Yes music live in 2006 just a few kilometres down the road from St Martins church in Vevey where, back in 1977, Jon & Rick had played together in the church pews on harp and organ working on the music that was to become Awaken in the midst of the towering Alps.

We'll have a fully detailed report about the trip online in the next week.

10:07:06 - New Fragile Myspace and a week with Steve Howe.

Fragile have got a great Myspace site up and running at myspace.com/fragileaqua. We've had over 5k hits so far and the site contains the latest audio samples from the original Fragile CD project, Aquaplanage.

We also have an in depth diary/review of the band's week with Steve Howe in June that also features an interview with Fragile's Steve Carney on Fragile's recent work with Steve Howe. The 'Four Nights Of Siberian Yes Tour' was a great success and this document gives a great insight into the band's experience.

We'll keep you posted on any further developments on this site and there will be more info and images about this tour available soon.

10:07:06 - Cancellation of Liverpool dates later this year.

Fragile are disappointed to announce the cancellation of their dates in Liverpool later this year at the Cavern Club (21st October 2006) and the Carling Academy (18th November 2006). Regrettably the promoter in question pulled the date at the Academy without the band's knowledge for reasons that remain unclear, and has failed to provide adequate contractual assurances in respect of the planned Cavern show. All Yes and Fragile devotees in the north west are encouraged to attend the band's show at the Limelight, Crewe, on Thursday 3rd August 2006. This will also be the band's only planned appearance in the north of England this year.

On a much more positive note, Fragile and many devoted Yes fans had an amazing time with Steve Howe during the recent 'Four Nights of Siberian Yes' tour. We will have loads of great pics and reviews online soon.

30:03:06 - Steve Howe & Fragile - Four Nights Of Siberian YES

Following a highly successful year for Fragile, including the one-off Steve Howe & Fragile show at The Robin 2, Bilston in June 2005, 2006 sees the band embarking on 'The Awakening Your Hearts Tour' with many dates already booked and more dates still to be announced.

In a further unprecedented move, the band will be undertaking a UK mini tour with Steve Howe, comprising just four exclusive shows in a stunning selection of venues as:

Steve Howe & Fragile - Four Nights Of Siberian Yes

Steve Howe and Fragile - Four Nights Of Siberian YES

The first of these exclusive shows will take place on Tuesday 27th June in the 300', 250+ year old man-made cavern that is The Rum Store at Carnglaze Caverns, St Neot, Liskeard. This is part of an amazing man-made three cavern system that was a slate mine in past times and incorporates a large subterranean lake and mineral collection. The Rum Store, so called, being near to Plymouth and therefore used to store all the Royal Navy's rum during wartime, now accommodates a regular concert theatre venue.

These stunning and beautiful subterranean surroundings are sure to provide a magical setting for classic Yes songs and music. The whole show will then move on to the gothic splendour of the converted church that is The Point at Cardiff Bay on June 28th, then on to the West Midlands venue that Steve Howe's relationship with Fragile all started at, being The Robin 2 in Bilston, on June 29th, and then finally The Brook in Southampton on July 1st.

These evenings are likely to take shape in a similar format to the 2005 show, with Fragile performing a set spanning 35 years of Yes music, followed by Steve Howe performing a diverse set of his own work and culminating with Fragile joining Steve on-stage to perform a final rousing selection of timeless Yes classics together.

Be advised to book your tickets early as these shows are sure to sell out quickly!

26:11:2007 - Fragile - Over But Not Quite Out

Following the recent highly successful tour of the UK, Belgium and Holland with Steve Howe of Yes, the founder members of Fragile have taken the decision to call time on any band activities for the immediate future.  Steve Carney, Jon Bastable, Mitch Harwood and Tom Dawe (who established Fragile in 1998) intend to explore other musical ventures, and this will hopefully include the completion of the Aquaplanage project with Robert (Dr Bob) Illesh.  An official statement on behalf of the quartet reads as follows:

“We view Fragile as a job done.  Our recent tour with Steve Howe was a seminal moment that convinced each of us that anything after the tour with Steve would probably fall prey to the law of diminishing returns.  We have nothing left to prove and the last show in Holland was a truly defining moment.  We would like to extend our genuine thanks and best wishes to everyone who has supported Fragile over the last decade.

This is not to say that Fragile will never perform again, and if the correct circumstances arise we may undertake further live work as a Yes tribute.  Therefore, the founder members will be retaining the brand name of Fragile and our identity at www.yestribute.com.  However, we recognise that Fragile is not dissimilar to Yes in that over the last ten years it has been a family of many constituent parts.  Therefore, our website will be updated to reflect this, and in particular the significant contributions of Robert (Dr Bob) Illesh and Max Hunt to the Fragile story.  The website will carry information on emerging projects and developments, and will act as contact point for continued interest in Fragile as a Yes tribute.

Fragile has been a remarkable success story.  Formed in 1998 to test the question of whether a Yes tribute could be made to work, and intended to only perform a couple of ‘pub’ shows, it went on to far exceed all possible expectation.  The band has performed UK tours every year since 1999, undertaken a string of international dates, released a number of highly applauded recordings, gigged with Peter Banks and been endorsed by Rick Wakeman, and of course appeared with Steve Howe of Yes in a series of now legendary shows.  This is the band’s legacy, the measure of its success, and the benchmark for what follows.  Over, but not quite out!”

Love and best wishes.

Fragile
